Breast Implant Associated – Acute Large Cell Lymphoma Disclosure

What we Know:

This is not a true breast cancer, but a lymphoma – almost all can be “cured” by removal of scar tissue and implant. Rarely chemotherapy.

Your lifetime risk of developing ALCL is 1 for every 30,000 implants

The most common presentation is a late fluid accumulation around an implant.

The average time from implant surgery to presentation is 8 years.

There have been a few deaths from people who ignored the symptoms for prolonged periods

The risk of dying from disease is 1 in every 1,500,000 (Australia)

13,000  x more likely in car accident, 10 x more likely from   lightening
