Unsightly sagging and drooping of the skin at the tip of the chin can look just plain terrible. This condition may be spontaneous or may be caused by extensive dental manipulations or large weight gains/losses. No matter what the cause, Dr. Donald Kress can help give you a more defined and shapely chin appearance.
About the Procedure
This cosmetic surgery procedure is done on an outpatient basis usually under local anesthesia, either in a free-standing surgical center or in the office.
During the procedure, a football-shaped portion of the excess facial skin is treated by removing the surface skin and then folding this skin onto itself to fill the accompanying groove beneath the chin. Liposuction or minor skin modifications can be performed at the same time. There is minimal bruising but a moderate amount of swelling which can take several weeks to resolve.
There is virtually no pain involved with the procedure, and sutures are removed within 5 to 7 days. Any bruising is gone within 10 to 14 days, a little longer for the swelling. Many people can return to work even before all of the sutures are removed.
After this surgery, you can benefit from an improved facial profile with a better balance to the neck/chin area and a more esthetic appearance.
