Buttock augmentation can improve the contour and fullness of the buttocks. This is done by harvesting fat from other parts of the body using liposuction. You and Dr. Kress can pick which fat sites are best to use for harvesting.
About the Procedure
A Buttock Lift involves a selective, gentle liposuction technique, which harvests fat from different areas of the body, including the abdomen, back, hips, waist, thighs, and arms. After the fat has been harvested it is transferred into the proper area of the buttocks in multiple layers through small syringes connected to micro cannulas of 1.5 to 2 mm in diameter. The fat transfer begins in the deepest layers of the muscle and continues toward the surface in an interlacing fashion.
This procedure is performed as an outpatient. The patient may not sleep on their back for 3 weeks. A control garment must be worn for 2 to 4 weeks. The patient should minimize sitting on the buttocks for 3 weeks. It is normal to experience temporary swelling and discomfort in the area with swelling and bruising that should diminish within 4 to 6 weeks. Most patients return to work after one week.
The augmentation effects of fat grafting are immediate.
Buttock Lift FAQs
Who is a good candidate for Buttock Augmentation?
The ideal patient for a Brazilian Butt Lift is an individual who is in overall good health and has an adequate amount of isolated fat around the abdomen, love handles, thighs, arms, hips, and/or back.
Patients with insufficient fat available for harvest are ideal candidates for butt implants as butt augmentation through a Brazilian Butt Lift would not be possible. Additionally, patients with overly small or flat buttocks that are looking to dramatically enhance its shape and volume will benefit from using an implant. Liposuction of the flanks may be recommended in some patients receiving implants to accentuate the overall shape of the buttock area.
What areas can fat be harvested from?
We choose fat donor sites based on locations that have excess fatty tissue present. For many patients, this is either the abdomen, hips, thighs, inner legs or back.
Will I be able to tell a difference between the grafted and non-grafted areas?
No. Grafted and non-grafted areas of the buttocks will feel alike and maintain a natural appearance.
